T&S Roofing Systems, Louis Toledo, Leo Toledo, Ernesto Sanchez
June 12th, 2008My Experience with T&S Roofing Systems
- If you are considering having your roof repaired, read this before hiring T&S Roofing Systems.
- My first mistake was to hire T&S Roofing Systems based on their advertisements without researching T&S Roofing Systems. T&S Roofing Systems advertises as being an honest company with a stellar record. After reading my story, you will know the truth about T&S Roofing Systems.
Approximately 2 years ago, I went through the yellow pages looking for a roofing company that was licensed, insured and hopefully, competent. T&S Roofing Systems had a full page ad stating they were licensed, insured and had 20 years experience. I called T&S Roofing Systems for an estimate. Leo Toledo, brother of the owner of T&S Roofing Systems, came to inspect my home and give an estimate. Although the price was a little expensive, I decided to go with T&S Roofing Systems thinking that I was hiring a reputable company. The contract was signed and deposit given to T&S Roofing Systems.T&S Roofing Systems failed to arrive on the date they had given me. This occurred several times. I missed several days of work waiting for T&S Roofing Systems to arrive. T&S Roofing Systems never arrived. One day I received a phone call at work telling me T&S Roofing Systems was at my house. I left work to go home. When I arrived, there were several workers at my house. I asked to speak to the foreman. There was no foreman. The workers did not speak English but, fortunately, I can speak Spanish. They told me to leave because they knew what they were doing. I went back to work.That evening I arrived only to find my house destroyed. There were thousands of nails protruding through the roof of my house. {Click on pictures}
The entire house was flooded with water. My furniture, rugs, appliances etc. were drenched with water and covered with debris.(click on pictures)
I called Leo Toledo to ask him what had happened. I explained to him the situation. He told me not to worry about it. I asked him to come help me remove the water and move the furniture but he declined. I told him that I had wood floors and the water can cause the wood to warp. He said he would not come. The following day Leo Toledo refused to come so I threatened him with an attorney. Eventually, Leo Toledo came but did nothing. Please view the pictures.
The crew of T&S Roofing Systems came out a second time at a date of their convenience and the same thing happened. They continued to drill more nails into the roof. By the time I arrived, the house was flooded again. T&S Roofing Systems did not bother to tarp the house or do anything to protect the internal contents of the house. I called to report it but T&S Roofing Systems gave me the same response - do not worry about it. I spoke to the owner of T&S Roofing Systems, Louis Toledo, to find out how he can allow this to happen a second time. He said not to worry about it. The crew came out again. There were more holes in my roof, no tarp on the roof and the house was flooded again. The workers tied my AC drainage pipe vertically so that all the water backed up into my AC unit and throughout my house. I contacted Louis Toledo. He said not to worry. The crew came out again. This time I caught them drilling more holes into my roof. I stopped the workers and brought one inside to show him the damage. He was shocked to see the thousands of nails protruding through my roof and apologized several times. He said he was never told of the problem. Louis Toledo never made them aware of the situation. I also spoke with Ernesto Sanchez about the situation. He apologized but did nothing to correct it. Neither he or Toledo wanted to take responsibility for the damages.
Toledo would send these workers without any knowledge of the roof and they, unknowingly, continued to destroy my home. The next visit was by Leo Toledo. Despite the butchering of my roof and all the destruction to my house, he came to pickup the second payment. During this time, I hired a roofing inspector to help me with this situation. The inspector arrived when Leo Toledo was there. The inspector questioned Leo Toledo about the job. It was obvious Leo Toledo knew nothing about roofing. He contacted Louis Toledo, the owner, who also did not seem very knowledgeable about roofing either. The inspector told him to stop the destruction of the house and dry-in the house ASAP. Louis Toledo refused so the inspector called the county and spoke with the chief county inspector. This inspector ordered Louis Toledo to dry-in the house as an emergency. Louis Toledo finally obeyed but, as always, caused more problems. When they poured the tar on the roof, all the tar leaked through the thousands of holes they created. These are some of the pictures showing how the tar was spread throughout all aspects ot the house. (click on pictures)
Needless to say, the tar ended up throughout the entire house, furniture, clothes, rugs, appliances etc. Every article of cloth or leather had to be thrown away and the roof continued to leak after their inadequate “dry-in” After multiple attempts of me trying to work things out with T&S Roofing Systems, I realized that they were not only incompetent, irresponsible and inexperienced but they are dishonest and negligent.
Till this day, Toledo has not taken any responsibility for his actions. He hired a personal attorney to interfere with the insurance process so that I not receive any compensation.
Before you hire a roofer, find out who they really are.
Here are other pictures that will give you an idea of the severity of the damages to my house from the water, nails and tar. Imagine trying to live in the house during this disaster - constant roof leak, smell, humidity etc. Also look at how they tried to repair the leak around the chimeney. When I saw that, I told them to take off the 2 feet of tar. They tried to chip the tar off. See how they cracked the bricks.(click on pictures)
